Leopard in a Tree, Acrylic painting process #art #wildlife

This post follows the creation steps of my acrylic painting Leopard in a Tree.

Above is my close up YouTube short of the final painting.

This is the head and shoulders of the leopard which I painted first. This changed a  bit as my painting continued.

This was the full canvas at the head and shoulders point.

My painting continued. I finished the leopard and started the tree. I made a mistake with my drawing of the branch to the right hand side. You will see my correction later in the picture process.

I had to widen the branch on the right because it didn’t match the branch on the left as I’d drawn it incorrectly. Fortunately, it all turned out fine.

I don’t love painting backgrounds. I find it a bit boring. I painted the background in as patches of colour. I then painted a pearl white coat over it to give it the toned down, faded look. I was pretty pleased with how it turned out.

This is the final painting:

    1. Hi Miriam, this is the blog linked to my website. I haven’t used it much but I’ve decided to use it to share Michael and my art. I fixed the photographs. Please let me know if you can see them now.

  1. You have captured the beauty and strength of this creature so perfectly Robbie.. I would hang this on my wall in a heartbeat. ♥
